Testimonials
"In the year or so that I worked with Alicia, I found her to be a great teacher of Pilates but, more importantly, she was a great partner. She understood my goals and worked with me to achieve them. She is firm and fair – an invaluable combination for a teacher. She knew my body as well, if not better, than I did and was able to coax and encourage me to go to levels that I never thought possible. New York is minus one very accomplished teacher and I miss her." — Janet R.
"When I think of our sessions together I'm grateful to you for having the confidence in me to progress me to the next level and challenge me. It was always a pleasure to work with you and I looked forward to my sessions. I felt and saw the difference in a very short time." — Angela C.
"I came to Alicia after injuring my midsection doing my old ab workout. The muscle had partially detached on one side and was visibly lower than the corresponding muscle on the other side. I needed another way to work my abs since my previous routine was no longer an option. Through working with Alicia I learned about why my old ab workout resulted in my injury and how to use Pilates to build back the strength I lost. She pushed me hard through each of our workouts while still making it fun. Alicia helped me recover and improve my core strength, flexibility, and abdominal muscle symmetry. She is a wonderful teacher and friend; anyone should consider themselves lucky for the opportunity to work with her." — Kevin Yang, Personal Trainer, NSCA - CSCS
"It's as if Alicia is some long lost cousin of Joseph Pilates. She knows so much; I never once questioned anything she told me to do. She kicked my ass and I saw the results. She's amazing." — Jason C.
"I love doing Pilates because it is not boring and the time flies by — I feel so good afterwards. You made it fun and challenging." — Kelly S.
"In addition to being extremely well trained in The Pilates Method, Alicia brings a combination of professionalism, warmth, and a sense of humor to her sessions and to those around her." — Jessica Sansone, Romana’s Pilates Certified Instructor
"Alicia is an excellent Pilates teacher whose insights and knowledge have taken people very far in a short time. She is reliable, steady and inspiring. There is no doubt about her talent, patience and commitment." — Barbara Philip, Romana’s Pilates Certified Instructor
"I've been practicing Ashtanga yoga for 2 years now and a bodyworker for 6. Believe me I know how to use my core. Or at least I thought I did! I've been seeing Alicia for 3 months now and lemme tell you the tone, strength and power I feel in my Abs is so exciting! Yoga, running, my massages, posture and swagger(I'm sure of it) has been taken to a fantastic new level. I have tried mat classes before and even acouple group reformer sessions but still I really had no idea what Pilates was. Nothing can compare to one-on-one training and focus. Especially when you have a dedicated, classically trained, no BS classy lady who's always changing up the routine. Super clean studio, quality equipment, quiet neighborhood with parking and Alicia is easy to work with on scheduling and payments. REBEL is kind of a big deal." — Janet D.
"I'm an experienced wrestler, grappler and trainer and have about 17 years of varied body resistance training. So, unfortunately, I tend to judge things quickly in the fitness world, like pilates. Most of the time I'm looking for a challenge and something that pushes me, and usually I'm let down, but not in this case. Alicia R.O.C.K.S.! Starting from our initial training, she immediately identified my weak spots and built a program specifically for me. She's patient, but knew how to push me. Pilates has challenged me more than almost any other athletic endeavor I've commit to. Not only that, but my body has completely changed in the last six months. I'm more defined and have shed excess bulk and fat. Places I didn't think I had muscles (or never knew how to work out correctly) are now strong. For the first time I feel equally strong and in shape throughout my entire body, especially my core. I've taken private pilates lessons on both coasts and Alicia's the best teacher I've ever trained with and one of the few in SF actually teaching real classical pilates, the way Joseph Pilates intended. There's a few places that I won't name that shouldn't even be allowed to say what they're doing is pilates. Alicia is a true gem." — Lawrence S.
"LOVE alicia and rebel pilates! Her studio is conveniently located in the middle of the city - easy to get to via public transportation, although i enjoy the mile walk/jog from home. alicia holds very convenient business hours and it's a breeze to schedule appointments with her (no online scheduling but she's quick to respond to emails and phone calls). alicia is a wonderful instructor - super knowledgable and encouraging, she makes pilates fun. i look forward to each session with her, and i'm super excited to be seeing and experiencing all the benefits from regular sessions. i feel much stronger - my body no longer hurts when i work (on-going problem for me) ... and overall i'm seeing more muscle tone which is awesome. (side note: why is it so much harder at 38 to get back into shape?? it wasn't this hard 10 years ago. argh.) rebel pilates is absolutely a 5 star business!!" — cynthia q.
"As a lifelong dancer, I've always been very familiar with Pilates training. One session with Alicia made me realize that I had been doing it ALL WRONG the entire time. Alicia was so great at pointing out exactly which muscle needed to do what, therefore correcting my many years of malpractice. Now, Pilates is the only form of resistance training I do. It's the perfect, full-body workout. I haven't touched a weight machine or free-weights in years, and I'm in the best shape of my life. Alicia whips you into shape not only through private sessions in her studio, but through equipping you with the correct method of performing the exercises between sessions at home. Alicia is also a very patient, yet assertive teacher. Her personality combined with the warmth and coziness of her in-home studio provide for the perfect Pilates experience. Woot!" — Haley W.
"You have got to try this new Pilates studio! The design of the studio is fantastic and the location is convenient no matter in which part of SF you live, but what makes it more special is a trainer, Alicia. She is going to push you until you reach your best and you wouldn't believe what your body is able to do:)))
I just started recently with classes and already feel stronger and kinda firmer :))) Can't wait for the next one (and that is tomorrow, yay!!!!!!)
I would HIGHLY recommend Rebel Pilates Studio to anyone who is looking for a great work out for a very affordable price!" — Sanja P.
"I've been working with Alicia for 2+ years and have done over 400 sessions. I've also had the chance to do sessions with some great pilates trainers in many other cities. Alicia is the best. Her sessions are the perfect balance of hard work, with a strong focus on technique / improvement. Before i met Alicia I was an oft-injured middle age weekend warrior. Now i am a never injured middle age weekend warrior. Alicia has made all the difference. I consider her a trainer's trainer. Just the best. If you want to work hard, learn a bunch and get fitter, and somehow enjoy the process, Alicia is as good as it gets." — John R.
"Sometimes I work so hard to stay away from an oft-recommended thing that I miss out on something great. If 10 people tell me to read "Harry Potter" to my kids, I move it ten spaces down on our reading list. Until I realize it's great, and obsessively read all 7 books back to back. To myself. So I guess it is no surprise that I love Pilates, love Alicia, love the one-on-one attention she pays to me and my progress in spite of all of the years of avoiding it due to excessive Pilates praise and "you'll LOVE it!" statements. Funny enough, I have not turned into a fancy-car driving trophy wife/mom like I feared. (Still in a dented mini-van, and I have no idea what kind of trophy I would earn as a wife... messiest? latest? stubbliest legs?) The magic is that having the flexibility of scheduling sessions with Alicia makes it possible for me to exercise, after a ten year long mommy-related scheduling-conflict-induced exercise famine. I live on the same block as TWO yoga studios, but can never make it work somehow. So while I am paying more, I am getting more, and I am GOING... which, as Mastercard would say, is priceless. Alicia kicks butt, is fun, is worth it, and will fix you up. And as I former former former dancer, I am a huge believer in how building up core strength will help in everything you do... roller derby, grocery carrying, cage fighting, pole dancing, you name it. If I didn't say it plainly enough... just go see Alicia already!" — Ellen H.
"I've worked with Alicia for a few months now, and wish I could start each day (or end it) in her perfect, one-on-one studio. She also introduced me to Janet DeHart at Soothe Spa around the corner, and now I've had the most wonderful massage ever. Rebel Pilates (Alicia) and Soothe (Janet) are the best two small businesses in the city. Enjoy!" — Cydney B.
